Compared to the 16-inch W3S166T1580S, the larger tank holds 50 more lbs of sand and supports a higher 35 GPM flow ceiling, reducing backwash frequency and giving the system more headroom for pools with higher debris loads. Everything ships together — filter, 7-position Vari-Flo valve, pump, base, and hoses.
If you need a pump with more output, the W3S180T93S pairs this same filter with a 1.5 HP PowerFlo Matrix pump. If you already have a compatible pump, the W3S180T filter-only is also available.

Backwash when pressure climbs 8 to 10 PSI above the clean baseline recorded at first startup. Switch to Backwash, run until the sight glass clears, then Rinse for 15 to 30 seconds before returning to Filter. Sand typically lasts 3 to 5 years before replacement is needed.
First Startup: Loading Sand
Fill the tank halfway with water before adding sand to cushion the laterals. Add 150 lbs of #20 silica sand gradually. Run a Rinse cycle before switching to Filter to flush fine dust. Record the pressure after Rinse as your clean baseline.
Winterizing the W3S180T92S
Backwash before shutdown. Drain the filter through the base drain and leave the plug out. Set the valve to Winter to drain the valve body. Remove both pump drain plugs. Disconnect hoses and store the system indoors above freezing.

Does this system include sand?
No. 150 lbs of #20 silica pool filter sand must be purchased separately. Use pool-grade sand only. Fill the tank halfway with water before adding sand to protect the lateral assembly.
Is this system suitable for in-ground pools?
No. The PowerFlo Matrix pump is an above-ground pump matched to the higher resistance of hose-based plumbing. It is not suited for in-ground pool plumbing configurations.
Can the filter and pump be serviced independently?
