The W3S180T93S uses the same 18-inch ProSeries filter as the W3S180T92S but pairs it with a 1.5 HP PowerFlo Matrix pump instead of 1 HP. The higher-output pump suits larger above-ground pools or installations where the plumbing run requires more head to maintain adequate flow. The filter, valve, pump, base, and hoses all ship together as a factory-matched system.
If you only need the filter and already have a pump, the W3S180T filter-only is available separately.

Maintaining the Hayward W3S180T93S ProSeries Sand Filter System
Backwash when pressure rises 8 to 10 PSI above the clean baseline. Switch to Backwash until the sight glass clears, then Rinse 15 to 30 seconds before returning to Filter. Sand typically lasts 3 to 5 years.
First Startup: Loading Sand
Fill the tank halfway with water before adding sand to protect the laterals. Add 150 lbs of #20 silica sand gradually. Run a Rinse cycle before switching to Filter to flush fine dust. Record the post-Rinse pressure as the clean baseline.
Winterizing the W3S180T93S
Backwash before shutdown. Drain the filter through the base drain and leave the plug out. Set the valve to Winter to drain the valve body. Remove both pump drain plugs. Disconnect hoses and store the system in a non-freezing location.

What is the difference between the W3S180T93S and W3S180T92S?
Both use the same 18-inch ProSeries filter. The W3S180T93S includes a 1.5 HP PowerFlo Matrix pump; the W3S180T92S includes a 1 HP PowerFlo Matrix pump. Choose the 1.5 HP if your pool requires higher flow or your plumbing run demands more pump head to maintain the circulation rate you need.
Does this system include sand?
No. 150 lbs of #20 silica pool filter sand must be purchased separately. Fill the tank halfway with water before adding sand to protect the lateral assembly.
Is this system suitable for in-ground pools?
No. The PowerFlo Matrix pump is an above-ground pump designed for the resistance characteristics of hose-based above-ground plumbing. It is not suited for in-ground pool plumbing.
Can the pump and filter be replaced independently?
