AutoPilot PCR0003A Pool Pilot Evolve: Official DIG-220 Replacement Power Center
The DIG-220 has been discontinued by AutoPilot. The PCR0003A Pool Pilot Evolve is the official designated replacement. If your existing cell and plumbing manifold are still in good condition, the PCR0003A swaps in as the new power center without replacing any of that hardware. Your existing salt cell (SC-36, SC-48, or SC-60), tri-sensor, and cell cord all carry over directly. No plumbing changes needed.
The Evolve adds features the DIG-220 did not have: Tri-Sensor technology that reads flow, salt level, and water temperature simultaneously for smarter chlorine output, a cleaner digital interface, and PoolSync app compatibility for remote monitoring when you add the antenna module.
DIG-220 to PCR0003A: Is Your Setup Compatible?
The DIG-220 had an optional internal pump relay that some owners used as a timer to switch the pool pump on and off. Whether you used that feature determines how straightforward your upgrade is.
- DIG-220 did NOT control your pump: Your pump runs on its own timer or automation system independent of the DIG-220. Transition to the PCR0003A is straightforward. Swap the power center, reconnect your existing cell and sensors, done.
- DIG-220 DID control your pump: The Evolve does not include an internal pump relay. You will need a separate timer or automation relay to handle pump switching. Contact us before ordering so we can confirm the right path for your setup.

AutoPilot PCR0003A Pool Pilot Evolve Frequently Asked Questions
My DIG-220 failed. Can I just swap in the PCR0003A?
In most cases yes, as long as your DIG-220 was not being used to control the pool pump. The PCR0003A connects to your existing salt cell, tri-sensor, and cell cord with no plumbing changes. If your DIG-220 was wired to switch the pump, contact us first so we can confirm what additional hardware you need.
Do I need a new salt cell?
Not necessarily. The PCR0003A is compatible with the SC-36, SC-48, and SC-60 cells used with the DIG-220. If your existing cell is still producing chlorine reliably, it carries over. If the cell is worn out, this is a good time to replace it alongside the power center.
What is the PoolSync antenna and do I need it?
The PoolSync antenna is an optional accessory (sold separately) that connects to the Evolve power center and enables remote monitoring and control through the AutoPilot PoolSync app on your phone. The PCR0003A works fully without it; the antenna adds convenience if you want phone-based access to salt level, chlorine output, and system status.
How does Tri-Sensor differ from the DIG-220?
The DIG-220 monitored flow only before activating the cell. The Evolve's Tri-Sensor reads flow, salt concentration, and water temperature simultaneously and adjusts chlorine output in real time based on all three. This means the system automatically compensates for temperature drops, dilution from rain, or lower-speed variable pump operation without manual adjustment.
Is the PCR0003A compatible with variable speed pumps running at low speeds?
Yes. The Evolve is rated for a minimum flow of 15 GPM, which means it operates correctly when paired with a variable speed pump running economy filtration speeds. Many older salt systems require higher flow and shut off when the pump slows down; the Evolve handles low-speed operation reliably.
