Hayward Perflex Filters

The Hayward Perflex is an extended-cycle D.E. filter that cleans without backwashing. The patented Flex-Tube design reuses D.E. powder through a bump handle rather than flushing it, eliminating the need for a backwash valve, drain line, or grid teardown. Filtration is to 2 microns — finer than sand or cartridge filters. All models include a self-venting design and integral check valve. D.E. powder is not included with any model.

How the Perflex Bump-to-Clean Cycle Works

When operating pressure rises 10 to 12 PSI above the clean baseline, stop the pump, push the bump handle down slowly then up briskly, and repeat 8 times. The Flex-Tubes compress and release, shedding the D.E. cake and redistributing it as a fresh coating. Restart the pump. No water is discharged, no fresh D.E. is needed in most cases, and no valve or drain line is required. A full D.E. recharge is only needed when bumping and draining no longer restore acceptable pressure — typically one to three times per season.

Choosing the Right Perflex Model

Select by pool application first (in-ground vs. above-ground), then by filter area and flow rate to match your pump's output at actual system head. The pump system bundles (W3EC40C92S and W3EC50C93S) include a factory-matched above-ground pump and are sized for above-ground pool plumbing only.
