Yes. Every GulfStream model includes a spa mode that can heat water up to 104°F, the standard maximum temperature for residential spas. This makes them a practical dual-purpose option for pool/spa combinations, as long as the heat pump is correctly sized for the combined water volume.

Yes. GulfStream heat pumps feature a titanium heat exchanger, which is highly resistant to the corrosion that chlorine and salt can cause in standard copper or cupronickel exchangers. That said, if you have a saltwater pool, the metal framework of the pool structure and all connected equipment, including the heat pump, must be properly bonded together per local electrical code. Bonding protects against galvanic corrosion and is a safety requirement. Consult a licensed electrician or pool professional if you're unsure whether your system is correctly bonded.

COP stands for Coefficient of Performance — the industry-standard measure of heat pump efficiency. A COP of 6.8 (as rated on all GulfStream HE models) means that for every 1 unit of electricity consumed, the heat pump delivers 6.8 units of heat energy. By comparison, gas pool heaters typically operate at 85–95% efficiency. A higher COP translates directly to lower monthly operating costs, especially in climates where the heat pump runs frequently.

The RA series (HE 110 RA, HE 125 RA, HE 150 RA) are heating-only units. The TA series (HE 125 TA, HE 150 TA) are full heater-chiller units that can both heat and cool your pool water. The cooling function is particularly useful in hot climates where summer water temperatures can exceed comfortable swimming levels. TA models carry a higher price point to reflect the added refrigeration capability.

Sizing depends primarily on your pool's volume, your local climate, and how quickly you want the pool to heat.
