Madimack InverTitan vs InverElite: Which Model Should You Buy?
You've decided on Madimack. Now comes the question we get asked constantly: InverTITAN or InverELITE? Both are excellent inverter heat pumps with heating and cooling, marine-grade casing, and InverMAC technology. But they're not the same: and choosing the wrong one could mean overpaying or underbuying for your specific situation. Here's the breakdown.
InverTITAN
~$4,800 – $7,600
The high-performance workhorse. Powerful BTU options, strong efficiency, and a compact footprint.
- 90K / 112K / 140K BTU
- COP up to 14.6
- 34.4 dB(A) at 10ft
- 5yr compressor / 3yr parts warranty
InverELITE
~$3,500 – $5,600
The flagship premium model. Best-in-class warranty, quietest operation, and top efficiency numbers.
- 84K / 116K BTU
- COP up to 15.0
- 30.8 dB(A) at 10ft
- 25yr exchanger / 10yr compressor / 4yr parts

Where They're Different: The Details That Actually Matter
Warranty: This Is the Biggest Difference
The warranty gap between InverTITAN and InverELITE is significant and often underappreciated when buyers focus only on BTU and COP numbers.
The heat exchanger is the heart of a pool heat pump: it's where heat transfer actually happens, and it's the component most exposed to pool water chemistry. Titanium resists corrosion well, but a 25-year warranty vs. standard coverage is a meaningful difference when you're investing $4,000–$6,000 in a unit. The InverELITE's 10-year compressor warranty also doubles the InverTITAN's: compressors are the other component where failures, when they happen, are expensive.
Noise: The InverELITE Is Measurably Quieter
InverELITE Sound Suppression Technology
The InverELITE uses Madimack's backward airflow system: instead of the fan blowing out the front where it's most audible to bystanders, air draws in from both sides and exhausts out the back. Combined with a triple coil design that reduces air turbulence noise and a Sound Suppression housing, the result is 30.8 dB(A) at 10 feet. That's quieter than a library (40 dB) and approaching near-silence in a backyard context.
InverTITAN Noise Level
The InverTITAN runs at 34.4 dB(A) at 10 feet: still extremely quiet by heat pump standards, and more than 15 times quieter than a generic on/off unit according to Madimack's published data. For most pool owners, 34.4 dB is completely unnoticeable. But if your equipment pad is directly below a bedroom window, or you have very close neighbors, the InverELITE's additional quietness is worth considering.
Efficiency: Closer Than You'd Think
COP Numbers
The InverELITE peaks at COP 15.0 at low-speed maintenance operation. The InverTITAN peaks at COP 14.6. In real-world pool heating, this difference is small: both are dramatically more efficient than traditional on/off heat pumps (COP 5–7). You're not going to feel the 0.4 COP gap in your electricity bill in any meaningful way. Efficiency should not be the deciding factor between these two models.
The InverELITE's backward airflow design is the key to its quieter operation.
BTU Options and Pool Sizing
InverTITAN BTU Range
The InverTITAN comes in three sizes: 90K, 112K, and 140K BTU. The 140K BTU InverTITAN is the largest residential Madimack unit available and is appropriate for pools up to approximately 40,000 gallons, or large pools in cooler climates.
InverELITE BTU Range
The InverELITE comes in 84K and 116K BTU configurations. These are sized for pools up to approximately 20,000–25,000 gallons. If you have a larger pool: over 30,000 gallons: the InverTITAN 140K is your Madimack option.
Where They're the Same
It's worth being clear about what these units share, because there's a lot:
- InverMAC technology: the same proprietary inverter system across both series
- Heat and cool standard: both heat and chill your pool in one unit
- Soft-start: both ramp from 0 amps to protect your electrical system
- Automatic defrost: both detect and defrost automatically in cold conditions
- Marine-grade aluminum casing: both use the same corrosion-resistant housing
- WiFi built-in: both include the Madimack smart app
- Stepless DC inverter: both give precise continuous control of compressor and fan
Which One Should You Buy?
Buy the InverTITAN if…
- You have a pool over 25,000 gallons (need the 140K BTU)
- You're in a warm climate and noise is not a concern
- You want strong performance with a slightly lower upfront cost
- You're less focused on maximizing long-term warranty coverage
Buy the InverELITE if…
- Your pool is 25,000 gallons or under
- You want the longest warranty available (25yr exchanger, 10yr compressor)
- Noise matters: close neighbors, equipment near living spaces
- You're in a cooler climate and want maximum cold-weather performance
- You're buying once and want the premium option
Our Honest Recommendation
For most residential pool owners with pools under 25,000 gallons, we lean toward the InverELITE. The warranty difference alone... 25 years on the heat exchanger, 10 years on the compressor vs. the InverTITAN's 5: justifies prioritizing it if budget allows. The noise advantage is a bonus on top of that.
If you have a large pool that needs the 140K BTU the InverTITAN uniquely offers, or if the InverTITAN's price point fits your budget better, it's still an excellent heat pump that will serve you well for years. The InverTITAN is not a compromise: it's a strong product. The InverELITE is just the step-up option that delivers more long-term value for the right buyer.
